Style: Modern Farmhouse

When asked what my style is, it always takes me a minute, but I am realizing that I tend to be drawn to style that has a rustic, vintage feel with some touches of modern.  I found these Industrial farmhouse lights at one of my go to places.  The lights are rusty and worn, but they would work in someones porch, kitchen, or even bar.  These lights paired with some other vintage and modern pieces fit perfectly with that Modern farmhouse style.  Below is some inspiration:

Headboard Makeover

Remember this 70's style headboard I picked up from an estate sale a while back?  Well I finally finished it!  I knew I wanted to paint it a light gray, so I went with a sample size (yes you read that right!) of Behr's Light French Gray, which was the perfect color!  It's a light gray but has hints of blue hues.  First, I added some 6 inch table legs to give the headboard some height.  Next I sandpapered the headboard which afterwards I put the first coat of the paint. After the second coat dried, I took some fine steel wool and went over the whole headboard.  The steel wool added a darker gray tone but did not distress it as much as I wanted, so I used some sandpaper. The great thing about distressing, is the less perfect it is the better!  So after all that, below is the finished results:

Hope you like it!  And can't wait to show everyone the finished bedroom.

Dogwood Festival

I love unplanned, productive weekends!  This weekend, Josh and I woke up Saturday morning and went to a Church yard sale.  I found some great things and they weren't expensive!  Heres a peek of what I got (Josh found the glasses;)

Finally bought some old window panes

love the mint green under the white paint

I loved the dark blue around the top and handles

Set of 6 Irish coffee glasses

After that we went out for Mexican and had some Margaritas.  Josh is in the process of making 3 beers, one of the beers he is making is a Kolsch, which he added some peaches.  So hopefully they all turn out delicious. Finally Sunday rolled around and we met some friends at the Dogwood festival.  The Dogwood festival is an Arts and Crafts festival held at Piedmont Park with many artists as well as food, music, and rides. I even got my first sunburn of the season!

Mmm..Peaches!

View of Midtown behind us

Like I said, it was a fun and productive weekend.  Which may explain why I am so tired today!

Tosses Out Treasures

When I was driving to work Friday morning, I was listening to the radio when they were talking about this flea market going on this upcoming Friday and Saturday.  "Tossed Out Treasures" is a community sale put on by the Sandy Springs Society and free to the public.  I was interested but even more when the radio djs mentioned that it was the 23rd time the society put on the event.  Josh and I went Saturday morning and I was way too excited.  The flea market was held at an old car dealership and mostly inside which was great, because the weather was terrible.  Once inside, the flea market was split up by department.  When you first walk in it was furniture, but they also had kitchenware, Holiday, clothing, kids, fine china, and art work, just to name a few.  The pictures below are some of the items I picked up while there.  It was a good time, but there were definitely a lot of people! The items I snitched up were, 4 purses, 3 canes, 1 coffee table, 1 side table, 2 ice buckets, and 1 pitcher with stirrer.

Henredson side table. I fell in love with the drawer!

Brass Coffee table, it has a glass top but I did not want to have to carry it outside.  Very heavy!

Josh picked out the San Francisco bag in the very back.

For these three items it was less than $10!

Heres a link to the "Tossed out Treasures" site. In the end, I was just glad we all of this in my little car!  :)

Officially Official

After months of trying to figure out what PYP business cards should look like (and hearing Josh always say "You are STILL working on those!?"), I finally have my business cards done and printed.  Well almost done.  I purposely bought the thicker cards to add some metallic gold to the edges, which I will have to do in the future, inspiration shown here.  The edges will either be spray painted or painted on with a gold paint pen.  What do you think?
